CAPITAL CAMPAIGN 2019
Building For Our Future
THE MID-ISLAND Y JCC
The Mid-Island Y JCC provides vital services and fosters Jewish identity, personal growth, family strength and community. The MIYJCC is open to everyone, serving individuals of all ages, abilities and challenges.
WE ARE THE CENTER OF IT ALL
When people in our community need to come together – in prayer, in support or in celebration – they come here. We provide care for children, a place to stay healthy, support groups for all ages, care for the elderly, programs for people with
special needs, help for families in crisis, and those facing food insecurity.
AND HOW WE PLAN
TO GET THERE...
WHY WE NEED UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY
Addressing the need for universal accessibility at the MIYJCC is a priority. As you can see from the images depicted on this page, the difficult situation caused by the stairs in a few critical areas of the building continues to present significant challenges. Additionally, for safety and
security purposes, our goal is to become a one entrance facility. Currently, our main entrance does not allow accessibility to all areas of the building, and many members and visitors need to use multiple alternate entry points.
EVERYONE WILL BENEFIT
Seniors | Alzheimer’s Respite Participants | Veteran’s Support Groups | Clients with Special Needs | Families with Children in Strollers
Members in our Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and Traumatic Brain Injury Programs | After School/Daycare Parents | All members
ACHIEVING OUR GOAL
1 | Our goal is to RAISE $1,000,000. This will be accomplished through a variety of different funding sources: Individual Donors at all levels, Foundations, and Major Gifts. With your support, this goal can become a reality and make a difference in the lives of so many who enter our building.
2 | A new building extension, which will house the new ramp, will PROVIDE UNIVERSAL ACCESS for all of our program participants, including those in wheel chairs, using walkers, and parents with infants in strollers. In addition, a smaller ramp will be installed in the Early Childhood wing that leads to three of our classrooms and the Ilene Porter Outdoor Nature Classroom and playground.
3 | The campaign will also provide MORE GENERAL UPGRADES throughout the building to better serve our community. This includes new floors in the 200 hallway and the Roth Family Multi-Purpose Room, renovation of the bathroom in the Alzheimer’s Respite room, and the creation of a handicap-accessible playground. In addition, repairs will be done to the roof and boiler room to prevent more serious problems in the future, and increase member and staff comfort within the building. We also plan to make modifications to our downstairs auditorium, and at our summer camp at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds.
