Jewish Culture Specialist
Counselor Duties & Responsibilities: Counselors will interact with children in the areas of sports and games, arts and crafts, outdoor education, swimming, and music, and establish meaningful relationships with campers, parents/guardians, and staff. Counselors must support the supervisory staff and be willing to learn.
Counselor Skills & Qualifications: Applicants must be 16 years old or older. Experience working with children is a plus. Positive attitude, outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic and fun. Applicants should be comfortable being outside and be willing to act silly and get messy. Applicants must be available for the duration of the summer camp season from June 29 - August 21, 2020 and all training leading up to camp. We are closed July 3rd for the holiday weekend. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am- 4:00 pm.
Specialist Duties & Responsibilities: Create a safe, positive and fun environment for campers. Encourage them to take initiative and try new things. Specialists are responsible for the learning experience of their specific activity area. Maintain and ensure the safety of specific areas such as; fields, courts, rinks, rock walls, etc. Provide our campers with a safe, happy, healthy and fun-filled summer.
Specialist/Group Leader Skills / Qualifications: Applicants must be 21 years of age and preferably a college graduate. Applicants for all positions must have specific experience relative to the position applying for, must have good communication skills, great energy, a positive attitude and experience working with children. Sports Specialist
Mid-Island Day Camp
Looking for an outgoing and energetic person to teach sports to our campers. Applicants must be 21 years of age and preferably a college graduate. Experience working at a summer camp is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities: Conduct sports activities with campers ages 2-13. Provide encouragement during coaching and help children develop a healthy attitude toward competition. Help children grow and develop new skills. Safety is of the utmost importance. Ensure the safe use of equipment and manage participation among all campers. Applicants must be available for the duration of the summer camp season from June 29 -August 21, 2020 and all training leading up to camp. We are closed Friday, July 3rd. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am- 4:00 pm.
Skills / Qualifications: Experience with children is a must. Sports background required. Great job for Physical Education majors, teachers, and/or college athletes. Positive attitude, outgoing and energetic. Good communication with co-workers, parents and supervisors. Strong interpersonal skills preferred. Applicants should be comfortable being outdoors.
Ropes and Challenge Course Specialist
Mid-Island Day Camp
Looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to facilitate activities on our challenge course. Applicants must be 21 years of age and preferably a college graduate. Experience working at a summer camp is strongly preferred. Must adhere to rules and regulations of certification trainings and workshops. Safety is of the utmost importance.
Duties & Responsibilities: Overseeing our Ropes, Bungee and/or Challenge Course. Ensuring the safety of all participating campers. Maintaining and organizing equipment. Applicants must be available for the duration of the summer camp season from June 29-August 21, 2020 and all training leading up to camp. We are closed Friday, July 3rd. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am- 4:00 pm.
Skills / Qualifications: Experience with children is a must. Outdoor experience preferred. Applicants for all positions must have specific experience relative to the position applying for, must have good communication skills, great energy and a positive attitude. All staff must be certified to work the course. Certification training is mandatory and will be provided prior to the start of camp.
Gymnastics Specialist
Mid-Island Day Camp
Looking for an energetic, dynamic and enthusiastic person to teach and supervise gymnastics for campers of all ages. Applicants must be 21 years of age and preferably a college graduate. Experience working at a summer camp is strongly preferred as well.
Duties & Responsibilities: Overseeing our Gymnastics and Tumbling Zone. Maintaining area and equipment. Safety must always be first priority. Loves working with kids and committed to teaching quality gymnastics and life skills. Knowledge of spotting safely and effectively. Explaining and demonstrating age appropriate gymnastics skills. Applicants must be available for the duration of the summer camp season from June 29 -August 21, 2020 and all training leading up to camp. We are closed Friday, July 3rd. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am- 4:00 pm.

Dance Specialist
Mid-Island Day Camp
Looking for an outgoing and energetic person to teach dance to our campers.
Duties and Responsibilities: Provide general dance instruction for campers ages 2-13. Create a dynamic and fun environment for campers to learn and participate in various aspects of dance, exploring, creating and performing. Teach movement specialties, i.e. Zumba, Kick-line, line dances, etc. Choreograph for the Camp’s end of summer play. Must be able to create age appropriate lessons for campers. Help supervise camp activities.

Create a dynamic, creative and fun environment for campers to learn and participate in various aspects of Judaism and Jewish culture. Must be able to create age appropriate activities. Must be organized, be able to plan out activities and projects in advance and follow a budgetary outline. Must have experience managing a staff. Must be able to work with food allergies and dietary restrictions.

Nurse/EMT
Mid-Island Day Camp
Mid-Island Day Camp seeks a full time Registered Nurse for its 2020 Summer Season.
The camp has a full service infirmary on-site and is committed to providing excellent care to its campers and staff.
The nurse is responsible for the following:
Administration of daily medications
Emergency medical attention when necessary
Maintain a copy of all medical forms and camper records
Maintain medical log of all visits to the infirmary
Maintain health records
Ensure each staff member and camper has a camp health form on file
Establish and follow appropriate medical routines, including record keeping in the medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved standing orders
Keep accident/incident reports that can be used for risk management assessment
Prepare a summary and evaluation of the camp season and make recommendations for the following season
Monitor health of all staff/campers
Evaluate camp procedures and suggest modifications that would create more healthful conditions in the camp
Respond to daily first aid needs, including sickness, nausea, scrapes, bruises, and cuts. In case of a medical emergency, contact the leadership staff and call 911. All health emergencies must be reported to the Division Head who will contact the parents of the child/staff member immediately. The camp staff will observe the children and do a basic medical check daily.
Requirements:
Licensed RN in NY state
Experience with children ages 4-12, and adults
5+ years' experience as a camp or school nurse
Must be available five days a week, June 22nd-28thth for staff orientation and June 29th-August 21st for camp.
