George has more than 25 years of experience in the areas of exercise physiology and sports medicine. He previously held the title of head strength and conditioning coordinator and the assistant baseball coach for Dowling College. Prior to that he was the General Manager of Long Island Sports and Fitness, and head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Long Island Ducks.
George holds a B.S. in Sports Medicine & Exercise Physiology and is certified as a CSCS.
Barbara has been a member of the JCC staff for more than 30 years. She has spent 20 years teaching dance and group fitness to various age groups, including a specialization in movement for pre-school aged children. Currently, Barbara creates programming for the FlexFit and specialty group exercise classes and is the Senior Advisor for Silversneakers. She comes with a background in nutrition, has her AFAA certification, as well as a Personal Training certification from IFTA. She also teaches Senior Aerobics, M.S. Aquatics and is available for Aqua-Therapy sessions. Her main goal is to offer members the latest trends in group fitness classes and help them maintain a healthy lifestyle through options that fit their individual needs.
Dawn has been a member of the Mid-Island Y JCC for 17 years. She joined our staff as the Administrative Assistant of the Fitness and Wellness Center and Aquatics Center in September 2016. She is looking forward to working with our members to help them achieve their fitness goals.
Our fitness staff is comprised of more than 18 Certified Professional Personal Trainers with varied backgrounds in sports, physical therapy and exercise science and are available for
one-on-one and group training.
